Fall 2009

As I’ve posted here before, I’ve begun to try to reduce the amount of travel I do this year, so I won’t be getting out on the road as much as I have in the recent past. Still, a few dates for 2010 are looking more certain.

More on all of these as information comes in!

2009:

September 11 & 12  Strider Theatre, Colby College, Waterville, Maine  The Porcupine Woman: An Evening With Jennifer Finney Boylan My one woman show; this is an expanded version of the show commissioned by the Richard Hugo House, and which was performed in Seattle last spring.  Porcupine Woman is an evening of interconnected stories and songs written and performed by me at the podium, and on piano and autoharp.  This new production was directed by Lynne Connor, and designed by John Ervin, who’ve made it feel very theatrical indeed.

September 24, 2009 Atlanta Georgia. The Thursday night of the Southern Comfort Gender Conference will see another performance of The Porcupine Woman. This will be a slighly less “theatrical” version of the piece, since we won’t have the hi-tech lighting design, but it’ll be the text as well as the songs.  You need to register for the conference in order to attend this one, I believe. More information on the Southern Comfort website here.

October 13, 2009.  Massachusetts Bay Community College, Wellesley Hills, Mass.  This event’s just been added to the calendare– venue and time to come.  Probably NOT the Porcupine Woman show, but a more standard reading of my recent work.  I’ll post up more info as I know it.

October 15, 2009 Richmond Human Resources Management Conference, Richmond, VA.  A corporate event at which I’ll be addressing diversity issues in general, and trans issues in particular.

November 5, 2009  Yale University.  Another event just added to the calendar–a performance of THE PORCUPINE WOMAN for Yale’s “Trans Week.” This will be in the Branford Common Room of Branford College. There’ll be a “Master’s Tea” at 4 PM, and a performance at 7.

Jenny on stage at Seattle’s Town Hall, March 2009.  Note the creepy Madonna-style headset.
